The United Nations

Flash and ActionScript Training

February 2009

Upstatement worked with The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to design and teach a Flash and ActionScript course to UN cartographers. Jared Novack traveled to UN Headquarters in New York and Geneva, Switzerland to teach the workshop to two different groups.

In three days, Jared taught the basics of programming and how to handle external data like XML. By the end, students were writing their own custom classes and integrating data feeds into their maps.
